Nature & Geology

The main attraction in Corvo is the special Caldeirão, an extinct volcano with a huge crater. Inside it, there is a lake of unique beauty, surrounded by the edges of the volcano covered in hydrangeas in the summertime. A singular scenery for pictures.

However, other off-the-beaten-track wonders are to be explored for those who spend more time on the island.

For instance, the trail ‘Cara do Índio’ (the Indian’s Face) is another trail you can do if you have more time on the island. it is about 4km long for a hike of 1h30. It leads to a rock that is believed to resemble the face of a man with an Indian hat.

Experiences and Tips

Don’t let the peacefulness of Corvo fool you as the locals love to chat and interact with travelers. They have so many stories to tell you about life in Corvo. Despite their small number, locals can be found around the city in the streets, simply enjoying a tranquil life.

The only way to enter Corvo is by boat or by plane, both arriving at Vila do Corvo, the main town on the island. The boat ride from Flores is nice and fast.
