Imagine yourself floating in the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, watching and hearing dolphins in their natural habitat. Learn more about the species, enjoy the ocean and find yourself on this invigorating trip! Join us in Ponta Delgada harbor at our shop to begin this amazing adventure. Before the trip, we provide a general presentation about the dolphin species, how to swim with dolphins responsibly in the wild, how to use a mask and snorkel, rules and how to behave around the dolphins as well as safety measures aboard. This activity is held in small groups on one of our zodiac boats.
For your own safety during this tour, you need to know how to swim and be comfortable with the idea of snorkeling in open waters. Our staff will always be close and watch you on the boat.
In the Azores, there are 3 resident dolphin species which are Risso’s dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and common dolphins. In addition to those three, it is possible to see Atlantic spotted dolphins, striped dolphins as well as rough-toothed dolphins and Fraser's dolphins on rare occasions.
Prices for this activity: 70€ per adult, 35€ per child (8-12 years old). This activity is available for children from 8 years old for safety reasons.
Check-in time: 8:30 am and 1:30 pm in our shop at Ponta Delgada harbor.
This tour is not recommended for people with lower back problems and pregnant women. Please let us know if you have any of these conditions.
People wishing to undertake this activity should be confident with swimming in open water in the middle of the ocean.

Q:Can I touch the dolphins?
A:No. Our responsible swim with dolphin guidelines forbid touching these inquisitive but wild animals. Just breathe, relax and enjoy this unforgettable moment
Q:Will the dolphins come to me?
A:It depends on the individuals we meet. Some of them are very curious, others will keep their distance
Q:Can I hear the dolphins?
A:Yes. It is very common to hear their whistles underwater.
Q:How many dolphins will I see?
A:Sometimes less than a dozen, other times up to 50 or more.
Q:: Can I swim with the whales?
A:No, swimming with whales is forbidden in the Azores. However, there are several species of dolphins that you are able to swim with.
Q:: When is this tour available?
A:In São Miguel, this tour is available all year round. Even if the water is colder during the winter months, it is still possible to swim in the Atlantic Ocean. We will provide long wetsuits for the coldest months and shorty wetsuits for the warmest months of the year.
Q: What if we don’t see any dolphin?
A: In case there is absolutely no sight of dolphins, Futurismo will offer a second trip free of charge.
