Swimming with Dolphins from Pico Island - half-day Tour


Join us on a swimming with dolphins tour and live an incredible experience that you will never forget. Who never dreamt about swimming with wild dolphins, and we are not talking about the dolphins held in captivity in swimming pools in marine parks. The dolphins you will see during that tour are 100% free and living in their natural habitat, where they belong. This unique trip to the Azores will definitely leave you speechless and full of emotions. .

The tour begins in our shop at Lajes do Pico harbor where we will get aboard our zodiac boat in a small group (around 8 people). But first, you will have an important briefing with our marine biologists to know more about the incredible moment you are about to experience..

This briefing is important for your own safety but also to understand how to protect the dolphins while swimming with them. The marine biologists will be guiding you all along this once-in-a-lifetime experience. All you have to do is breathe, stay calm and enjoy this unique experience.

Prices for this activity: 70€ per adult, 35€ per child (8-12 years old).

This activity is available for children from 8 years old for safety reasons.

Check-in time: 8:30am and 1:30pm in our shop at Lajes do Pico harbor.

This tour is not recommended for people with lower back problems and pregnant women. Please let us know if you have any of these conditions. People wishing to undertake this activity should be confident with swimming in open water in the middle of the ocean. Bring: swimming suit, towel, hat, sunblock, water

Q:Do I need to know how to swim in order to book this tour?
A:Yes, it is mandatory to know how to swim and you must also be comfortable with the idea of snorkeling in open waters.

Q:Which dolphin species can I see during the tour?
A:In the Azores, there are 3 resident dolphin species which are Risso’s dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and common dolphins. In addition to those three, it is possible to see Atlantic spotted dolphins, striped dolphins as well as rough-toothed dolphins and Fraser's dolphins on rare occasions.

Q:Can I touch the dolphins?
A:No. Our responsible swim with dolphin guidelines forbid touching these inquisitive but wild animals.

Q:Can I hear the dolphins?
A:Yes. It is very common to hear their whistles underwater.

Q:How many dolphins can I see?
A:Sometimes less than a dozen, other times up to 50 or more.

Q:Can I swim with the whales?
A:No, swimming with whales is forbidden in the Azores. However, there are several species of dolphins that you are able to swim with.

Q: What if we don’t see any dolphin during the tour?
A: In case there is absolutely no sight of dolphins, Futurismo will offer a second trip free of charge.
