Where to?

Once you get the bike from our activity center, it is up to you to wander anywhere you like if you choose a self-guided tour. For more local tips on what to see and where to go, join a guided tour with our expert guides!

You can of course choose how difficult you want it to be. If you want to go slow, stay close, venture out far away or have it like a race, it is totally up to you.

Pro tip: for the famous beautiful blue roads full of hydrangeas, come visit us in July and August!

Enjoying good professional equipment

To explore the beautiful region of Sete Cidades in the West part of São Miguel island, Futurismo offers several mountain bikes. You will be able to discover the beautiful surroundings from an active perspective.

At our activity center on the shore of the blue lake, our fierce bikes are just waiting for you to take them on your adventures.
The little ones are not forgotten with Futurismo! Indeed, we also have bikes for children.

With a tremendous mountain bike, you will ride inland past beautiful lakes or also up the mountains. Futurismo specializes in guided, supported, and self-guided mountain bike tours and also self-guided road cycling tours.

Riding in São Miguel Island is quite an experience! That is why at the end of your journey, you will have the possibility to use our restroom with showers to get changed and be more comfortable in new clothes.

Guided vs self-guided

You are a solitary wolf, you prefer to go wherever you want, and discover the west side of São Miguel island on your own? Then you should book our self-guided tours.

    The Basics

    Are the Azores a good biking destination?

    Yes, the landscapes are truly beautiful and Sete Cidades is perfect to go for a ride.

    I travel with children and/or seniors. Is this activity indicated for families with kids?

    Yes. It’s recommended to know how to ride a bike but the tour intensity level is on you so we highly recommend to be adjusted to the seniors fitness level. We also have children bikes and baby seats. Please check the minimum age per tour.

    Is it necessary to have a lot of experience in cycling for this tour?

    This tour has a medium difficulty level, but you don’t have to be an athlete to join. However, it is always better to be used to cycling as you will be pedaling for about 15 km.

    What is the best season to do Bike tours in the Azores?

    It is possible to do this activity all year round but the best season is summertime and springtime to have the best visibility.

    Sete Cidades is great to have a bike ride. If you come in July and August, you will see a cycle surrounded by high walls of blue hydrangeas. It truly is magical scenery. If you are planning to come out of those months, don’t worry, there still are so many things to see in the volcanic crater!
